Seasoned oyster crackers on a baking sheet.

Seasoned Oyster Crackers

These seasoned oyster crackers are easy to make. The recipe is a variation of ranch crackers but uses a blend of spices instead of a packet of ranch dressing mix. For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper.

Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 5 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 (9 ounce) bag oyster crackers
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (about 6 ounces), optional
  • 1 stick butter (4 ounces)
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Place oyster crackers in a large mixing bowl. If using nuts, stir them in now.
  3. Melt butter in a small pan over low heat or in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl on low heat.
  4. Remove the melted butter from the heat and stir in the dried basil, onion powder, garlic powder, dried dill, and cayenne pepper (if using). Pour mixture over the crackers and stir to combine. If the seasoning clumps, stir gently to break up the clumps.
  5. Spread the crackers onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Let the crackers cool before serving. Store in a container with a lid or a zip-top bag. Crackers keep for about one week.
