Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

This recipe makes chocolate chip cookie bars that are soft and rich bars with a nice brown sugar flavor. If you like salted chocolate chip cookies, sprinkle a little flaky salt on the dough before baking.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup salted butter melted (6 ounces; 170 grams)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, light or dark (5 ¼ ounces; 150 grams
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (1 ¾ ounces; 50 grams)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (9 ounces; 250 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or chunks (12 ounces; 340 grams)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, optional (4 ounces; 113 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch pan.

  2. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  3. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until a thick dough forms. Add chocolate chips until blended.
  4. Press dough into the prepared pan.

  5. Bake until the edges are golden brown, about 30 minutes.

  6. Cool and cut into bars. Store bars on the counter wrapped for up to five days. Or place in a freezer container and freeze for up to three months.
