This thick hot chocolate is rich and creamy. The wonderful thickness comes from the combination of chocolate and a little cornstarch. Adding a little vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon gives it a lovely flavor boost.

Ingredients
1tablespoonsugar, plus more to taste
1teaspooncornstarch
2cupsmilk, whole milk is recommended
2ouncesdark chocolate, chopped
Optional
Splash of vanilla
pinch of cinnamon

marshmallows
Instructions
Whisk together the granulated sugar and cornstarch. Add about one tablespoon of the milk.
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the remaining milk and the sugar-cornstarch mixture. Stir to combine. Bring to a gentle boil.
Turn off the heat. Add the chopped chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted. If using, add the vanilla and cinnamon.
Pour into a mug and whipped cream and/or marshmallows.
