This snack mix is irresistible to me. There’s just something about the creamy white chocolate with the cereal and salty pretzels that I can’t stop eating. And it’s not just me. My family requests I make it every Easter. It’s a sweet tradition that I look forward to every year.
Why You’ll Love This Bunny Bait.
- A batch takes less than 20 minutes to make.
- It’s sweet and a little salty.
- It lasts a long time! Store leftovers in a container and it lasts for weeks. (If you don’t eat it before then!)
How to Make Bunny Bait.
Mix. Melt. Coat. Pour. Those are the basic steps for putting this recipe together.
- Stir the mix together in a large bowl.
- Melt the white chocolate chips. (If you’ve never melted white chocolate, take a look at the guide below.)
- Coat the mix. Stir quickly.
- Spread on a pan and let the mix set up. That’s it!
The Key Step: Melting White Chocolate Chips.
White chocolate adds a nice creamy flavor to the bunny bait. Here’s how to melt it. Remember: don’t use high heat. The can burn the chips.
- Fill a saucepan with about 2 inches of water. Place a heat-safe mixing bowl over the saucepan. You want the bowl to have a snug fit. It shouldn’t touch the water in the pan.
- Place the white chocolate chips in the bowl.
- Heat over medium heat. As soon as you see the chocolate starting to melt, stir it.
- Stir gently until the chips are completely melted. Carefully remove the bowl from the double boiler. Wipe the bottom. This prevents water from getting into the chocolate. Use right away.
Bunny Bait Tips.
- Line your pan with parchment before mixing the cereal. You want it ready when you are. This way, the mix won’t set up in the bowl.
- Change it up. Use a different Chex cereal. Add nuts. Use pretzel twists. It’s up to you!
- Work quickly. After you pour the melted chocolate on the mix, stir it quickly. It sets up fast, especially if your kitchen is cold.
- Break into pieces. Once it sets up, break into bite-size pieces. Then put it in a large bowl or bags and enjoy!
