How to Make Oreo Bark
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Melted chocolate sticks to metal. Lining your baking sheet with parchment or waxed paper is a must.
- Crush the cookies. Place the Oreo cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin. You could also crush them with a food processor.
- Melt the candy. For this recipe, I recommend using white candy coatings. They are made to melt and don’t require tempering to firm after melting like real chocolate. If you’d rather use white chocolate or white chocolate chips, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the melted white chocolate before adding the crushed Oreos.
- Stir together. Pour the melted white chocolate over the crushed cookies and stir. Once the cookies are coated with chocolate, spread the mixture onto your parchment-lined baking sheet. Work quickly so the chocolate doesn’t thicken in the bowl.
Tips for Making the Best Oreo Bark
- Don’t overheat the white chocolate. Whether you’re using white candy coating or white chocolate, melt it slowly. It’s easy to overheat white chocolate and when that happens, it gets thick and hard to combine with the cookies.
- Crush cookies into small pieces. To make the bark easy to break into pieces, crush the cookies into small pieces.
- Use different flavored Oreos. While nothing beats a classic chocolate sandwich cookie, there are some flavored Oreos that make fantastic bark. Mint is especially nice during the holiday season.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
Coconut Oil: If you want to use white chocolate or white chocolate chips, stir one teaspoon of coconut oil into the melted white chocolate. This helps the chocolate to harden without requiring tempering.
White Candy Coatings: The quality of candy coatings varies from brand to brand. Use a candy coating that tastes great right out of the bag. Dark or white candy coatings can be used for a different flavor.
Oreos: Crush cookies into bite-size pieces. If you crush them into fine crumbs, the bark tastes great but looks gray. Use any flavor Oreo you like. Peppermint Oreos are nice during the holiday season.
