9 Accessories that Instant Pot Lovers Swear By

    Apr 26, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Ok! You’ve got a new instant pot and now you’re wondering if you need any accessories. The key word there is need. The truth is you really don’t. What comes in the box works perfectly well for most recipes.  But some accessories come in handy.

We hope this list helps you! The links included are Amazon affiliate links. We earn a commission on sales made through the links at no additional cost to you!

    9 Must-Have Instant Pot Accessories

    Must-Have Instant Pot Accessories

    Silicone Sealing Ring

The first on my list is the most un-fun but the handiest. A silicone sealing ring. When you buy an Instant Pot, it comes with one sealing ring. This ring ensures that the pot can reach and maintain pressure. Without it, steam leaks from the pot and pressure is never achieved.

Over time that ring can hold onto odor, no matter how well you clean it. The ring can get stretched out and/ or crack over time. Instant Pot recommends replacing the ring every 12 to 18 months. (Sooner if you use it daily.)

Since rings can crack or stretch out over time, it’s a good idea to have a backup sealing ring sitting around. They’re only a few dollars and those dollars are money well spent if one night you go to use your Instant Pot for dinner only to discover the ring is no longer working well.

For safety sake, buy an Instant Pot-brand sealing ring. I wouldn’t use an off-brand sealing ring and wouldn’t recommend you do either. Plus if you use a third-party sealing ring, it can void the warranty on your Instant Pot.

    “Sweet and Savory” Sealing Ring

In that same vein, Instant Pot sells colored sealing rings that are perfect to designate for sweet and savory uses.

So if you want to make chicken burrito bowls, let’s say, and rice pudding but you don’t want the rice pudding to taste like chicken burrito bowls, then use these rings.

Even if you don’t make desserts in your Instant Pot, these are great for more mild dishes. Use one for chili and other spicy foods and the other for delicate recipes, like chicken soup.

    OXO Bakeware Sling

Since the  Instant Pot insert is so deep, it can be a challenge to lift hot foods out of it. Some models come with a trivet but those handles aren’t very long. The OXO bakeware sling trivet works great as both a trivet and a lifter. I can’t imagine using my Instant Pot without it.

Note: this bakeware sling works for the 5,6, and 8 quart Instant Pot models. It’s too big for the 3-quart model.

    Egg Bite Mold

One of the most popular recipes to make in an Instant Pot is…egg bites. Yes! Egg bites, like the ones they sell at Starbucks. With these molds, you can make egg bites at home and save a few dollar bills.

    Egg Rack

If you love making hard boiled eggs, you need to try making them in the Instant Pot. This rack holds the eggs in place while they cook, so they don’t knock into each other and break.

    Cheesecake Pan

The main reason you need a small cake pan for your Instant Pot? Cheesecake. It comes out silky and dreamy in less time than it takes to bake in the oven.

(Always remember to put water in the bottom of the insert when you use a cake pan in your pressure cooker.)

    Tempered Glass Lid

If you use your Instant Pot for slow cooking or to keep food warm during serving, a tempered glass lid is great. The regular lid is heavy duty–because it needs to be for pressure cooking. A glass lid is so much easier to use for other tasks.

    Non-Stick Pot

Here’s an accessory that I don’t use but I’m recommending because so many of Cook Fast, Eat Well’s readers love it: a nonstick insert. It works just like the regular insert but it has a nonstick coating.

    Instant Pot Cover

Got leftovers? You can store them right in the Instant Pot. I use this cover a lot in the winter when I make soups and stews. It’s fab-u-lous!
