I call this garlic and herb seasoning mix my “tastes like garlic bread” blend because, well, it tastes like garlic bread. Sprinkle it on everything from pasta to chicken to potatoes. And, of course, use it for really easy garlic bread.
You Only Need Four Ingredients to Make Garlic and Herb Seasoning
Garlic Powder. Look for pure garlic powder, not garlic salt. Garlic should be the only ingredient listed. For this recipe, granulated garlic works too. It’s a little coarser than garlic powder. Avoid minced garlic. It’s too large for this seasoning blend.
Onion Powder. As with garlic powder, look for pure onion powder, not onion salt. Avoid dehydrated onion as it’s both too large and not the right flavor for this mix.
Dried Basil. Some dried basil can be large. You can always crush it with your fingers before adding it to the mix.
Dried Oregano. Adds a subtle “pizza/pasta” flavor.
Salt. Totally option. I tend not to use it because I like to control the amount of salt I add to a recipe.
How to Use It
I feel like garlic and herbs go with everything. Here are just some ideas.
- Sprinkle it on air fryer chicken breasts (or any chicken!) before cooking.
- Add a generous sprinkle to homemade pasta sauce.
- Put a little on fried mashed potatoes.
- Toss potato cubes with olive oil and this seasoning before baking.
- Use it on garlic bread
- Add it to vinaigrettes.
Storage
After you mix the seasoning together, store it in a jar with a lid. Store it at room temperature. I use it so frequently that I keep a jar next to the salt and pepper on my counter.
